07 March, 2005 – Midway, UT—CorEMR announced today that it presented recently at the annual conference of the National Sheriff's Association in Washington, D.C. The annual winter conference was held at the J.W. Marriott hotel in downtown D.C. and included hundreds of representatives from sheriff's departments around the nation. CorEMR was invited to present on its exciting new Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system for corrections facilities.
Lane McCotter, president of CorEMR, expressed excitement at the invitation and opportunity for the new company. "We're thrilled and honored to have been asked to present to this prestigious group. We feel very strongly that EMR is a critical issue for county jails, and that implementation of EMR solutions will save taxpayers millions of dollars in litigation costs, provide dramatic additional savings in increased operating efficiency, as well as result in better medical service for inmates."
According to McCotter, most county jails around the country do not have an electronic medical records system. "Most county jails simply cannot afford the expense of traditional EMR systems. The nature of inmate medical needs makes accurate medical records essential for jails. The risk of inaccurate or missing paper records creates huge risks for everyone involved. Our participation in the National Sheriff’s Association Conference will help get the word out that there are practical, affordable solutions available."
The CorEMR solution is a turnkey EMR system designed specifically for medium sized corrections facilities. It includes simple-to-use screens to create inmate medical and dental appointments, build and maintain medical record files, record notes and procedures, order and administer medications, and retrieve patient histories. It can easily be integrated into existing Jail Management Systems (JMS) to eliminate re-entering of inmate booking data.
CorEMR was formed in 2004 to provide affordable electronic medical records systems for corrections facilities. The management team has more than 25 years experience in correctional facility management, as well as extensive experience in software development and solutions management. The company is privately held and headquartered in Midway, Utah. CorEMR P.O. Box 702, Midway, Utah 84049
